In a world full of illusions, not everything is as it seems. Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should. This series uncovers the difference between freedom as permission and freedom as purpose. Through biblical wisdom, we’ll learn how to clear the fog, set healthy boundaries, and live in a way that truly honors God.
We’re not called to just try harder—we’re called to train with purpose. This week moves us from hype to discipline, from short bursts of motivation to habits that last.
💡 Key Teachings
Run to obtain, not just to start (1 Cor. 9:24–27).
Train, don’t just try—habits sustain what motivation starts (v.25).
Practice Spirit-led self-control: purposeful “no’s” and obedient “yes’s” (v.25).
Let love lead—the goal and the guide; gifts fade, love never fails (1 Cor. 13:4–8,13).
Walk by faith when vision feels foggy—trust over sight (1 Cor. 13:12; 2 Cor. 5:7).
Stay useful; guard your edge—avoid compromise (1 Cor. 9:27; Luke 15:7).
“Run in such a way as to get the prize… Everyone who competes exercises self-control in all things.”
1 Corinthians 9:24–25
Not every option leads to growth. Filter decisions through God’s wisdom:
Will this action train me or just hype me?
Does it build others up in love?
Does it honor God and keep me useful?
If a habit owns me, I am not free. Identify one area where comfort or compromise is calling the shots. Set a boundary and bring your body, time, and attention under Spirit-led discipline.
Let love set the pace. Choose what builds people, not just what entertains. Run for people—pray for the lost and encourage someone who’s weary.
Start one training habit God’s been nudging (Word, prayer, silence, forgiveness). (1 Cor. 9:25)
Name one Spirit-led “yes” to practice, and one clear “no” to protect your edge. (1 Cor. 9:27; 13:4–7)
Build someone up with intentional encouragement or prayer today.
Do it all for God’s glory: “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Cor. 10:31)
